Fundraising during Lent

Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35)

As part of our Lenten journey Classes 11 and 12 organised a 'decorate the egg' competition. The proceeds will be donated to a charity of our choice. Thank you to all who entered! You've all been 'eggstremely' busy! All of the entries are 'eggcellent!' We will keep you posted on the amount we raised and of course who wins!

Preparing for Holy Week

Today, we gathered in the hall to view the 'Stations of the Cross'. Each class was assigned a Station and we completed work centred around this part of the Easter story. Once all the boards were displayed in the hall this provided us with a lovely opportunity to reflect and consider Jesus' journey and prepare us for this important time of year.

Remembrance Day 11th November

Today we visited the cenotaph in Heywood to remember all of the men and women that died as a result of war.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Take a moment to remember...........

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Literacy Festival 4th -11th November

Today we had an author visit our school to 'kick start' our week of celebrating all things literary! His name is Christian Darkin and he writes a series of books called the 'Act Normal' series. He is also an illustrator and creates animations. He has even created animations for CBeebies. He talked to us about how he gets started on writing his books and he even shared an extract with us of a new book that he's just written. We were then lucky enough to take part in a workshop with Christian where he told us some of his writing secrets! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are now all ready to embark on our Literacy adventure next week! We are going to celebrate the centenary of Roald Dahl by studying one of his books. Our chosen text is 'The Minpins'. watch this space to see all of our exciting work that we do!

A visit to the library!

As part of our literacy festival this week we visited our local library! We shared books, listened to poems and stories and had a good look at all the amazing books that they have there. We had a great time and its made all of us want to visit the library more often!

We've loved reading 'The Minpins' by Roald Dahl this week!
