Class 12 (Year 5)

A huge welcome back to school and welcome to Class 12. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning together. We hope to keep everyone updated through this page so please check in regularly to see photographs and read reports about what Class 12 have been up to.

We are continuing to ask the children to attend school in their PE kits on their designated day/s. Class 12's PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Please read our Spring 1 newsletter to see what we will be learning about this half term.

Thank you.

Miss Farrelly (class teacher) and Miss Clowes (teaching assistant).

We celebrated Day of the Dead (a tradition that originated from Mayan culture) by making papier-mâché masks.

Well done to our SMART pupil, Handwriter of the half term and Mathematician of the half term!

Well done and thank you to everyone who took part in our crazy hair fundraiser! It was very hard to pick, but well done to our 4 winners!

Mayans workshop.

Well done to everyone who designed and made a crown for World Book Day - it was very hard for Miss Clowes and I to choose a winner! Congratulations to Callan for his brilliant crown, based on his favourite character 'Jim The Troll Hunter' and to Darcey for her fabulous Queen's speech.

Well done to our Spring SMART pupil (Nikol), our Handwriter of the half term (Cole) and our Mathematician of the half term (Mitchel).

We learned 'Twas the Night before Christmas' poem by Clement Clarke Moore and performed it with actions to Class1! No scripts were needed - great job Class 12!

Remembrance Day.

Class 12's SMART pupil for this half term is Joseph! What a role model!

Well done to our hand writer of the half term!

Today we looked at some Ancient Egyptian artifacts and learnt lots of facts about Ancient Egypt.

Curriculum news letters.

Here at St Joseph's we have purchased a new spelling scheme. The details of how it works are attached for your convenience. The children all have a log in (in their Reading Record) The spellings will run from Friday-Friday. There will be a traditional test on the Friday where children can demonstrate their knowledge of the words and the pattern focused on during the week.

Any problems please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your support.

Miss Farrelly.
