Dear Parent/Carer,
NATIONAL EDUCATION UNION (NEU) INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Further to my previous letter, I can now advise you of the school’s decision in relation to our ability to open on the day of the industrial action (strike action).
On Tuesday, 28th February 2023, the school will: open partially -
Classes that will be open are - Class 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12 and 13
Classes that will be closed are - Class 2, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 14
This decision has been based on a full risk assessment and the information available at this point.
This decision may have to change on the day of action if there is sickness absence or a picket line at school that employees have decided not cross. As I’m sure you understand, we will be unable to advise you of this in advance and we may need to update parents and carers on the morning of the action to advise of any closure/further closure. If this occurs we will aim to do this as soon as possible before the start of the school day.
If the school is able to remain open to your child, they are expected to attend and it is a parents’ responsibility to ensure that they attend school on this day. Schools are required to mark the register in the normal way and if your child fails to attend school, or the reason for absence is not accepted, this will be recorded as ‘unauthorised’ and may have further consequences.
If your child is eligible for benefits related free school meals, then please contact the school office at office@stjosephsrcprimary.rochdale.sch.uk if you wish to order a packed lunch for your child on this day. Please be aware that parents will have to make arrangements to come to school to collect their child’s packed lunch during the morning of 28th February 2023. Please also note that this offer is for those pupils in receipt of free school meals and not the universal free school meal that all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive. If you are unsure then please contact the school office who will be happy to help.
We will continue to update you about the impact for the future dates, nearer the time of them taking place. As a reminder, the dates planned for future Industrial action are:
If you have any questions, please direct these to the school office via email using the address office@stjosephsrcprimary.rochdale.sch.uk
We will write to you again as soon as we have further information.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs C Dunne
Headteacher

NON-UNIFORM DAY TOMORROW - CHANGE TO DONATION PLEASE
Our Lady and St Joseph's Christmas Fair this Sunday is CANCELLED due to unforeseen circumstances.
This is a really important fundraiser for our parish church and I also know how much the children were looking forward to a non-uniform day tomorrow. Therefore I propose that the children still come in their own clothes, but that they bring a £1 donation and NOT a bottle. Then we can collect the money and donate to the church towards their funds for the upkeep of the buildings.
Many thanks in advance for supporting us.
Mrs Dunne
Many thanks to all of the parents who took the time to come in to school to have a look at their child's books on Monday evening.
The children absolutely loved preparing their books for you to see and also sitting down and sharing their learning with you.
I think we all loved the tasty treats that Sandra, our cook prepared too!

Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral. This is a period of time for reflection in response to the death of the Sovereign.
The official date of the State Funeral is 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges.
The results are in and the lucky winners have received their prizes. Check out who they were here -
