Class 4 (Year 1)

Welcome to Class 4.

Our teacher is Miss Ward.

Our teaching assistant is Mrs Smith.

Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday. Children will need to come into school wearing their PE kits on these days.

Reading Books

Reading books will be changed daily. Please read with your child daily and make sure that your child's reading record is signed. Thank you!

Handwriting Books

Please help your child practice their handwriting in their books.

We will check these on a Friday and send them back home on a Monday.

Thank you!

Design and Technology - Houses - We thought about how we would make our houses strong and stable and then tried to blow them down.

Legoland Trip

Food Technology - Gingerbread Biscuits

History - Houses and Homes. We looked at artefacts from houses through history and thought about what they were and what they were used for.

The Epiphany - We made crown to celebrate the feast of The Epiphany

The Annunciation - We acted out the story of Mary meeting the Angel Gabriel

Christmas Craft - Thank you so much for joining us!

The Chubby Snowman

We listened to a selection of Christmas poems and decided to learn the words and actions to The Chubby Snowman.

Queens Park Trip

Religion - Baptism

English - Don't Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus! We did some acting, trying to persuade the bus driver to let the pigeon drive the bus.

Computing - We learnt to input a program into the beebots and then how to debug a program and achieve the output we wanted.

This week we started our topic of old toys. We got the old toy box out and took turns to try out the toys. We compared them to the toys we have now and discussed what has changed, thinking about materials and electrics and the way we play with the toys.

As part of our first science topic, we looked at the human body and tried to remember as many facial features as we could. We then drew around one of our class and labelled all the different parts of their body we could think of.

This week we found a special visitor in our class on the carpet when we came in from our break time. Knuffle Bunny and a washing machine were on the carpet. We made predictions about who could have left him there and then linked to the book cover. We created artwork inspired by Knuffle Bunny and Lost posters after he went missing from our classroom.
