Welcome to our website. Throughout the year this page will be regularly updated so you can keep up to date with all the fantastic things that are happening in Class 5!

Here is a list of tasks that you can complete at home... KEEP LEARNING!

Writing

 

Use the picture ABOVE as a stimulus for writing:

  • A character description
  • A story
  • An information text about forests
  • A setting description

You could write this straight into the book school has provided. Some of the Year 2 writing targets include the use of:

  • Conjunctions (connectives - and, but, so, because, or)
  • Punctuation e.g. capital letters, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, apostrophes for contractions (don’t) and apostrophes for possession (Jack’s coat)
  • Expanded noun phrases (adjectives)
  • Correct use of tense

Please encourage your child to edit and improve their writing. They have been trained to do this!

Today we had a very special visit from a dietician. She taught us all about healthy eating and looking after our body. We discussed the different food types and learned that it is ok to eat everything in moderation and that we need a range of food from each food group. We also discussed how important it is to brush our teeth twice a day and looked at a variety of food and drink that contain a large amount of sugar.

Today we invited our families to join in with our prayer and worship session. It was all about the Epiphany; when the three wise men visited baby Jesus. Thank you all for coming!

Today we had a visit from Fr Paul. He talked to us about how our school has changed and his role in the church. We then asked him some questions about changes at our school. After his visit we write a prayer thanking God for all the wonderful people we have at St Joseph’s.
